Dear Young Modellers in Ecology,

next week already, we will start into a year filled with a new monthly online seminar series that we named "Lunchbox Models"! The format will be filled with scientific talks, but also exchange sessions focusing on life and struggles in academia - much like you know it from our annual in-person workshops.

We launch this series as a joint venture with the GfÖ AK Computational Ecology, who are celebrating their revival with a new leading team. Please check out their homepage and consider signing up for their mailing list to be up to date with their future events!

With this seminar series, we cater to the need for community and belonging among ecological modeller's in Germany and beyond. At our YoMos workshops, the want for a space and format to interact more regularly than once a year (or for most participants, once in a student-life) got expressed repeatedly, and now this monthly seminar is a first step to realise this community. The idea for the seminar series and close collaboration with the AK Computational Ecology however originated from Korinna Allhoff, who was a keynote and wholehearted participant at our 2024 workshop at Federsee research station, and now fosters community with her engagement at the AK Computational Ecology.

Please check out the schedule for our Lunchbox Models seminar series below and consider joining the first talk by Hanna Meyer next Wednesday! More infos and zoom access can be found here.

See you at lunch!

Louica
